Book Club: Discussion as a Way of Teaching (LIB-Kentucky Room)

Join Dr. Donna Elkins (COM) as she facilitates discussion centering on Stephen Brookfield and Stephen Preskill's Discussion as a Way of Teaching in the library's Kentucky Room. This brown bag lunch series will cover 4 weeks during session 2:

  • Why Discussion Matters and How to Start it in your Class (Chapters 1 - 4)
  • Keeping Discussion Going in Diverse Classrooms (Chapters 5 - 10)
  • Building an Engaging Online Discussion Culture (Chapters 11-12)
  • Evaluating What Students Learn from Discussion (Chapters 13 - 15)

The CTL will purchase copies of the book for all registered attendees by September 10, 2018. Schedule too busy to attend all 4 sessions? Not to worry, chose one or two sessions your're interested in and join us when you can.
