Art + Feminism Wikipedia Edit-a-thon

Art + Feminism Wikipedia Edit-a-thon

Art + Feminism is a national campaign improving coverage of cis and trans women, feminism and the arts on Wikipedia.Wikipedia’s gender trouble is well-documented. In a 2011 survey, the Wikimedia Foundation found that less than 10% of its contributors were women. While the reasons for the gender gap are up for debate, the practical effect of this disparity is not: content is skewed by the lack of representation from women.

Let’s change that.

Join Spalding University Library on Wednesday, March 28th from 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM for an all day communal updating of Wikipedia entries on subjects related to gender, art and feminism. We will provide tutorials for the beginner Wikipedian, reference materials, laptops, and refreshments. For the editing-averse, we urge you to stop by to show your support or practice editing in an unpublished sandbox.

In conjunction with this event, artist Skylar Smith will provide a tour of the current exhibit in the Huff GalleryPersonal is Still Political, starting at 11:30.

We invite people of all gender identities and expressions to participate. Please create a Wikipedia account before the event.
